Publication ethics statement

The editorial board of the journal Regular and Chaotic Dynamics (RCD) follows ethics norms accepted by international scientific community and makes every effort to prevent any infringements of the norms. This publication ethics statement is based on guidelines and standards developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and includes respective responsibilities of authors, reviewers and editors.

Responsibilities of authors

Originality of work

By submitting a manuscript to RCD, the author(s) warrant that the manuscript is their own, original work and that it has neither been published previously nor is currently being considered for publication elsewhere.

Acknowledgement of sources

Authors should ensure that they clearly cite, reference and acknowledge all instances where they have used or been influenced by the work of others, including their own previously published articles and research material.

Conflicts of interest

All authors are aware of and have consented to the submission and declared any potential conflict of interest — be it professional or financial — which could be held to arise with respect to the article.

Authorship of the manuscript

Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper, and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.

Correction of errors

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal's editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.

Duties of reviewers

Confidentiality policy

Privileged information or ideas obtained by reviewers through the peer review process must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents, and must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the RCD Editor-in-Chief.

Objectivity standards

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

Manuscript assessment

Reviewers should identify in their reviews relevant published work that has not been cited by the author(s), together with any instances in which proper attribution of sources has not been provided. They should call to the responsible editor’s attention any major resemblances between a manuscript under consideration and other published articles or papers of which they are aware, as well as any concerns they might have in relation to the ethical acceptability of the research reported in the manuscript.

Promptness

Reviewers who have accepted manuscript assignments are normally expected to submit their reviews within four weeks. They should remove themselves from the assignment if it becomes apparent to them at any stage that they do not possess the required expertise to perform the review, or that they may have a potential conflict of interest in performing the review (e. g., one resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, institutions, or companies associated with the manuscript).

Responsibilities of Editors

Decision making

The RCD Editor-in-Chief are responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. They may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

Fair play

The editors will evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality

The editors will not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate. Additionally, the editors will make every effort to ensure the integrity of the blind review process by not revealing the identity of the reviewers of a manuscript to the authors of that manuscript.
